Landing in Male’ will be via the barge landing area next to Viligilli ferry terminal.
2.4.5 Construction method of breakwater
Breakwater will be constructed using excavators and loaders. The use of cranes may be less
practical given the frequent disruptions anticipated during flight take-off and landing. The core
of the breakwater will be constricted from geobags filled with sand. The upper layers will be
filled with filter cloth and layers of rubble for cushioning. The main breakwater units will be
quadrangle hollow blocks constructed from concrete. These units will be manufactured on the
Hulhule worksite or the pre-casting yard at Hulhumale’ and transported to the site on a need
basis.
2.4.6 Equipment
Key equipment of the main bridge, approach bridge, girder precast & installation and land
connection works are presented in Table 2.3, Table 2.4, Table 2.5, Table 2.6.
