C. Attire – Exhibitors shall be suitably attired for the type of<br />

vehicle used. Drivers may use lap robes. Roadster colors are<br />

prohibited.<br />

D. One passenger permitted. Any assistance to the driver will<br />

result in disqualification.<br />

E. Ponies and Miniatures maybe combined in any Youth, Amateur<br />

or Open driving event.<br />

F. <strong>Horse</strong>s cannot be combined with Pony or Miniatures in any<br />

Youth, Amateur or Open driving event.<br />

G. Headers are optional but recommended for all Open and<br />

Amateur Driving classes, except where noted.<br />

H. Headers are mandatory for all Youth (YA) Driving classes,<br />

except where noted.<br />

I. Headers are to be fourteen (14) years of age or older.<br />

J. A driving whip shall be defined as a whip with a firm stock of<br />

suitable length for the <strong>Pinto</strong> being exhibited.<br />

P2. Pleasure Driving<br />

A. General Regulations and Requirements<br />

1. Entries should give the appearance of being a pleasurable<br />

driving <strong>Pinto</strong>. To enter the ring at a normal trot.<br />

2. Boots or bandages are prohibited.<br />

3. To be shown at a flat-footed walk, a normal trot and a strong<br />

trot, both ways of the ring.<br />

4. To stand quietly and back readily.<br />

B. Gaits<br />

1. All gaits to be performed in a smooth, relaxed, balanced<br />

manner, consistent with conformation type of animal.<br />

2. Walk: Flat-footed, free, rhythmical four beat gait.<br />

3. Normal Trot: Balanced, free moving and relaxed two beat<br />

gait.<br />

4. Strong Trot: Balanced lengthening of stride with noticeable<br />

difference from normal trot, without excessive speed, loss<br />

of form, or two beat gait.<br />

a. Stock and Hunter types will move with low strides, with<br />

little flexion of knees and hocks.<br />

b. Pleasure type will move with rounded, medium strides,<br />

flexed neck with poll higher than withers, and will display<br />

forward reach and flexion of knees and hocks.<br />

c. Saddle type will move with rounded strides and may<br />

display higher head carriage and action and more knee<br />

and hock flexion.<br />

C. Judging<br />

1. To be judged on manners, quality, performance,<br />

conformation and suitability.<br />

2. Faults would include: stiff or choppy gaits; inconsistent<br />

rhythm, crooked or sideways movement.<br />

3. A tendency to move in a Western style jog instead of a<br />

normal trot must be penalized.<br />

4. All <strong>Pinto</strong>s moving in an extremely slow jog instead of a<br />

normal trot must be penalized.<br />

5. Extreme speed to be penalized.<br />

P3. Fine Harness (4-wheel Vehicles only)<br />

A. General Regulations and Appointments<br />

1. Entries to give a performance showing style, presence,<br />

finish and cadence. To enter the ring at a Park trot.<br />

2. Quarter boots or rubber bell boots are permitted.<br />

3. Entries may be unchecked while lined up. Attendant may<br />

stand an entry on its feet and thereafter, he/she shall<br />

remain at least two paces distant from the head.<br />

4. Entries not to back.<br />

5. Four-wheeled vehicle only.<br />
