B. Class Procedure<br />

1. <strong>Pinto</strong>s shall perform work on the rail that will include, but<br />

not be limited to:<br />

a. A flat-footed walk, normal trot.<br />

b. A strong trot (not to exceed twice around the ring).<br />

c. Starting with a flat-footed walk, through a normal trot to<br />

a strong trot.<br />

d. Stand quietly.<br />

e. Pivot (<strong>Pinto</strong> to side pass as though there were a wall<br />

in front and behind with one wheel rolling). Pivot not to<br />

exceed 90 percent (Judge may ask for both right and<br />

left or either.).<br />

f. Dismount from the cart and remount.<br />

2. Reins to be held at all times.<br />

C. Judging<br />

1. Judge shall work the <strong>Pinto</strong>s adequately, but must not<br />

overwork the entries. This is not a game or a fault-and-out<br />

class and shall not be judged on an elimination basis.<br />

2. Final judging shall be on the basis of the best overall<br />

disciplined rail performance.<br />

3. To be judged 75 percent on performance, 25 percent on<br />

manners and conformation.<br />

P9. Combined Driving<br />

A. General Regulations and Requirements<br />

1. Combined Driving Event includes three competitions held<br />

over a two or three day period that include Dressage,<br />

Cross County Marathon, and an Obstacle course.<br />

2. Governing bodies for Combined Driving are American<br />

Driving Society (ADS), United States Equestrian<br />

Federation (USDF), and the Federation Equestre<br />

Internationale (FEI) for the international competition.<br />

3. Complete rules for Combined Driving can be found in<br />

the American Driving Society (ADS) Hand <strong>Book</strong> and the<br />

United States Equestrian Federation (USDF) rule book.<br />

B. Definitions<br />

1. A Combined Driving Event (CDE) usually held over a two<br />

or three day period and has three competitions. The whip<br />

drives the same animal(s) throughout the competitions.<br />

a. Presentation and Dressage<br />

b. Marathon<br />

c. Obstacle Driving<br />

2. Driving Trials has three (3) competitions held over a<br />

one (1) or two (2) day period. The whip drives the same<br />

animal(s) throughout each competition.<br />

a. Presentation and Dressage<br />

b. Marathon<br />

c. Obstacle Driving<br />

3. Competition Levels<br />

a. Training<br />

b. Preliminary<br />

c. Intermediate<br />

d. Advanced B<br />

e. Advanced A<br />

C. Points<br />

1. No points will be separated from a Combined Driving<br />

Event score and applied to any other PtHA ROM pointearning<br />

event (i.e. Dressage, Obstacle Driving)<br />

2. Individual placings in non ADS or US Equestrian<br />

Federation Combined Driving Events will receive points<br />

based on the regular PtHA point scale times the number of<br />

days of the competition<br />
