4. A member who wishes to make changes to his/her<br />

Reasonable Accommodation Certificate must notify PtHA<br />

in writing.<br />

5. The Certificate is revocable at any time for cause.<br />

C. Application Review Process<br />

1. The individual’s participation records from other equine<br />

associations may be examined as part of the review<br />

process.<br />

2. Requests for accommodation are considered by the<br />

appropriate PtHA committee and submitted to legal council<br />

for review before a final decision is made.<br />

D. Application and Certificate Schedule<br />

1. Applications for a Reasonable Accommodation Certificate<br />

must be submitted no later than August 31 to be approved<br />

for the following show/calendar year.<br />

2. The Certificate will be issued annually and will remain in<br />

effect from January 1 through December 31 of the year<br />

following submission of the application.<br />

3. Applications must be filed annually.<br />

E. Approval of Application for Accommodation<br />

1. A Certificate will be issued. A copy of this Certificate must<br />

be included with the member’s entries and a copy given<br />

to the judge(s) of each PtHA sanctioned event which said<br />

member is participating.<br />

2. The Reasonable Accommodation Certificate must list all<br />

compensatory aids and adaptive equipment allowed the<br />

member while competing.<br />

3. Compensatory aids or special equipment not specifically<br />

listed on the Certificate will not be allowed.<br />

F. Denial of Application for Reasonable Accommodation<br />

1. Any member whose Reasonable Accommodation<br />

Certificate has been denied by PtHA may request a<br />

hearing.<br />

2. Request must be in writing and mailed to the PtHA office.<br />

a. To the Attention of the Executive Vice President<br />

b. Mailed within fifteen (15) days from the receipt of<br />

the decision to deny the application for reasonable<br />

accommodation.<br />

c. A fee of $100 must accompany the request for a<br />

hearing.<br />

G. Definitions Specific to this application and certificate<br />

1. “Diagnosed permanent physical disability:” Members must<br />

submit a completed medical profile from his/her physician<br />

with diagnosis attesting to the members disability, physical<br />

and mental limitations and any compensatory aids or<br />

adaptive equipment required by said member.<br />

2. “Compensatory Aid”: A piece of equipment used to aid in<br />

the required performance of the competition. Examples<br />

could be the use of whips as replacement for leg aids or<br />

the use of headsets for sight impaired riders.<br />

3. “Adaptive Equipment”: Equipment that is adapted, may not<br />

normally be allowed by PtHA rules, to aid the member in<br />

performing the requirements of the competition.<br />

G4. PtHA Office Charge<br />

A. Every approved show must collect from the entrants, or pay<br />

from the proceeds of the show, a per head per judge (show)<br />

fee. On back-to-back and multi-judge shows there will be<br />

multiple fees, based on the number of judges. If multi-judge,<br />

back-to-back shows are held, a fee from each of the shows will<br />

be collected. PtHA sanctioned futurity shows require separate<br />

fees.<br />
