remuneration for prohibited activities outlined in A.1.a. above,<br />
the applicant must certify that, within the last thirty-six (36)<br />
months, he/she has not assisted in any of the above (A.1.a.)<br />
for which the spouse/family member has been remunerated.<br />
Current Amateur must comply but will not be penalized for<br />
activity prior to 1/1/06. Additionally, the applicant for a PtHA<br />
Amateur card must certify that he/she will not exhibit in PtHA<br />
Amateur classes any equine for which his/her spouse of or a<br />
member of his/her immediate family received remuneration<br />
pertaining to A.1.a. within the previous six (6) months.<br />
C. The following activities shall not affect the Amateur status of a<br />
person who is otherwise qualified:<br />
1. Having the occupation of veterinarian or farrier, or owning<br />
a tack store or breeding or board stable.<br />
2. Derive income from driving commercial horses (i.e.,<br />
Carriage horses).<br />
3. Judge open shows and 4-H shows, as long as he/she does<br />
not receive remuneration or barter, directly or indirectly, in<br />
any form.<br />
4. Grooming, banding, braiding, washing, brushing, tacking,<br />
longeing or hauling.<br />
D. Any person who, under these rules, does not qualify for<br />
Amateur or Novice Amateur status and shall knowingly and<br />
falsely represent him/herself to be an Amateur in order to show<br />
in Halter or ride or drive in Amateur or Novice Amateur classes<br />
or any person who violates any of the provisions of this rule<br />
shall be subject to disciplinary action by the PtHA Executive<br />
Committee. Disciplinary action will be followed by a mandatory<br />
thirty-six (36) month waiting period before said individual may<br />
reapply for Amateur or Novice Amateur status.<br />
E. All exhibitors in this division must annually file a Statement of<br />
Amateur Status and application for an Amateur card with PtHA<br />
before entering any Amateur class. PtHA must be notified in<br />
writing of any change of status within thirty (30) days of said<br />
change and Amateur activities shall cease immediately.<br />
F. All inquiries concerning Amateur eligibility status must be<br />
directed through the PtHA office and approved by the PtHA<br />
Executive Director.<br />
G. Before applying/reapplying for Amateur status, a person who<br />
is ineligible for Amateur status must serve a waiting period<br />
of thirty-six (36) months after the date of the last activity that<br />
made him/her ineligible.<br />
H. Payback in AM classes<br />
1. Weekend high point awards may be paid to Amateurs.<br />
2. PtHA Amateur members may accept class payback and<br />
cash high point awards without jeopardizing PtHA Amateur<br />
status.<br />
3. Individuals are encouraged to check with any other<br />
organizations for clarification on how this rule effects<br />
Amateur status in that organization.<br />
u3. amateur Membership<br />
All competitors in this division must be current members<br />
of PtHA and must have a current PtHA Amateur card or<br />
have applied for same, for the competitive unit to exhibit and<br />
receive any awards in this program.<br />
u4. amateur Classes<br />
A. AM classes at Halter may be offered. (i.e., AM Geldings, AM<br />
Mares) This may be divided by age and/or type.<br />
B. Amateur classes shall consist of those listed as approved<br />
point-earning events. Track Racing, Stock Saddle Racing,<br />
Competitive Riding, Endurance Riding, and Combined Training<br />
are not point-earning AM events.<br />
