3. Exhibitors are encouraged to exhibit <strong>Pinto</strong>, while making<br />

full use of a 25’ radius circle.<br />

4. Judges should assess the movement of the entry on ability<br />

to become a pleasure horse.<br />

5. If the entry plays on the longe line, it shall not be<br />

penalized. The <strong>Pinto</strong> should be judged as though a<br />

pleasure prospect playing in a field.<br />

6. The judge may not discriminate for or against any body<br />

type (i.e., bulk), but rather should look for a total picture<br />

emphasizing balance and athletic capabilities.<br />

7. Excessive bucking or running off, stumbling or displaying<br />

attitudes that are uncomplimentary to pleasure horses,<br />

such as ear-pinning and tail-wringing will be penalized.<br />

8. Five (5) Point Penalties<br />

Failure to demonstrate the correct lead, jog or trot for<br />

an adequate distance to allow for proper evaluation of gait.<br />

9. Disqualifications<br />

a. If the <strong>Pinto</strong>’s chin or nose area shows any sign<br />

if broken skin, rawness, or bleeding, it shall be<br />

eliminated from the class.<br />

b. Evidence of lameness<br />

c. Blatant striking of <strong>Pinto</strong> with whip.<br />

d. Fall of <strong>Pinto</strong><br />

e. <strong>Pinto</strong> steps over or becomes entangled in the longe<br />

line.<br />

f. Failure to show in all three gaits in both directions.<br />

g. Loss of control of the <strong>Pinto</strong> to the point that the <strong>Pinto</strong> is<br />

loose in the arena.<br />

E. Scoring and Results<br />

The <strong>Official</strong> PtHA Scoring Form will be used by each judge<br />

to adjudicate the class.<br />

R7. Mounted shooting (oCaP only)<br />

A. Governing associations are Mounted Shooters of America and<br />

the Single Action Shooting Society.<br />

B. Special Equipment –<br />

Two (2) .45 caliber single action revolvers loaded with<br />

special blank ammunition.<br />

C. Procedure<br />

1. A timed event requiring precision control of the horse over<br />

a variety of courses.<br />

2. The rider attempts to shoot ten (10) balloon targets at a<br />

gallop or at least as fast as the rider can manage safely.<br />

3. Competitors are grouped in classes based on experience<br />

and wins.<br />

4. Additional procedures and rules, refer to the governing<br />

body <strong>Rule</strong> <strong>Book</strong>s, R8.A.<br />

D. Scoring<br />

1. Scoring is based on time running the course plus a five<br />

second penalty for each target missed or barrel knocked<br />

over.<br />

2. Points will be awarded according to <strong>Official</strong> standings by<br />

class.<br />

3. Points will be awarded according to <strong>Official</strong> standings by<br />

division in the 20 Xtreme class.<br />

R8. Parade <strong>Horse</strong><br />

A. Appointments<br />

1. <strong>Pinto</strong>s are to be shown with stock saddle, standard<br />

bridle, plain or with silver, Mexican or other appropriate<br />

equipment. Breastplates, hip drops and serapes are<br />

optional.<br />

2. Boots or bandages, any kind of martingale, tie-down or<br />

draw reins are prohibited.<br />
