3. Exhibitors are encouraged to exhibit Pinto, while making
full use of a 25’ radius circle.
4. Judges should assess the movement of the entry on ability
to become a pleasure horse.
5. If the entry plays on the longe line, it shall not be
penalized. The Pinto should be judged as though a
pleasure prospect playing in a field.
6. The judge may not discriminate for or against any body
type (i.e., bulk), but rather should look for a total picture
emphasizing balance and athletic capabilities.
7. Excessive bucking or running off, stumbling or displaying
attitudes that are uncomplimentary to pleasure horses,
such as ear-pinning and tail-wringing will be penalized.
8. Five (5) Point Penalties
Failure to demonstrate the correct lead, jog or trot for
an adequate distance to allow for proper evaluation of gait.
9. Disqualifications
a. If the Pinto’s chin or nose area shows any sign
if broken skin, rawness, or bleeding, it shall be
eliminated from the class.
b. Evidence of lameness
c. Blatant striking of Pinto with whip.
d. Fall of Pinto
e. Pinto steps over or becomes entangled in the longe
line.
f. Failure to show in all three gaits in both directions.
g. Loss of control of the Pinto to the point that the Pinto is
loose in the arena.
E. Scoring and Results
The Official PtHA Scoring Form will be used by each judge
to adjudicate the class.
R7. Mounted shooting (oCaP only)
A. Governing associations are Mounted Shooters of America and
the Single Action Shooting Society.
B. Special Equipment –
Two (2) .45 caliber single action revolvers loaded with
special blank ammunition.
C. Procedure
1. A timed event requiring precision control of the horse over
a variety of courses.
2. The rider attempts to shoot ten (10) balloon targets at a
gallop or at least as fast as the rider can manage safely.
3. Competitors are grouped in classes based on experience
and wins.
4. Additional procedures and rules, refer to the governing
body Rule Books, R8.A.
D. Scoring
1. Scoring is based on time running the course plus a five
second penalty for each target missed or barrel knocked
over.
2. Points will be awarded according to Official standings by
class.
3. Points will be awarded according to Official standings by
division in the 20 Xtreme class.
R8. Parade Horse
A. Appointments
1. Pintos are to be shown with stock saddle, standard
bridle, plain or with silver, Mexican or other appropriate
equipment. Breastplates, hip drops and serapes are
optional.
2. Boots or bandages, any kind of martingale, tie-down or
draw reins are prohibited.
