7. Longe Line class will consist of two elements. The first<br />
element is conformation and the second element of the<br />
class is a longeing demonstration.<br />
8. Scribes for each Judge should be used, if available.<br />
B. Tack and Attire<br />
1. Entries are to be shown in a halter, regular or show type,<br />
English or Western and suitable for longeing.<br />
2. The only attachment allowed to the halter is the longe<br />
line, which may not exceed 30 feet in length with a snap<br />
attached.<br />
3. The longe line must hang free from the halter without<br />
touching any part of the horse.<br />
4. It is permissible to use a longe whip, but disqualification<br />
will occur if the exhibitor blatantly strikes the horse with<br />
the whip to cause forward or lateral movement at any time<br />
during the longeing demonstration.<br />
5. No other equipment is allowed on the horse during the<br />
class. Mechanical or retractable longe lines are not<br />
allowed.<br />
6. The type of equipment used is not to be a consideration<br />
in placing the horse as long as the equipment meets the<br />
requirements stated above.<br />
7. For the conformation inspection, a lead shank, such as<br />
used in halter or showmanship classes may be exchanged<br />
for the longe line prior to the longe line demonstration.<br />
8. Proper Western or English Halter class attire is mandatory,<br />
and must be consistent with whether the horse is being<br />
shown as a Western or English entry.<br />
C. Class Procedures<br />
1. Conformation inspection will be the first element in Longe<br />
line.<br />
a. The <strong>Pinto</strong> is walked to the first cone and pause for<br />
conformation inspection by Judge(s).<br />
b. After inspection, the <strong>Pinto</strong> is trotted around second<br />
cone and will proceed to the side of the arena.<br />
c. Stop and return to end of arena to wait for longeing<br />
demonstration.<br />
d. <strong>Pinto</strong>s that show evidence of lameness will be excused<br />
prior to the longeing demonstration.<br />
e. <strong>Pinto</strong>s will not be allowed to show in illegal equipment<br />
or if there is evidence of abuse, or inhumane treatment<br />
or any rule violations.<br />
2. The longe line demonstration element of this class will last one<br />
and one-half minutes (90 seconds).<br />
a. Time will start with an audible indicator when the <strong>Pinto</strong> has<br />
reached the perimeter of it’s walking only circle.<br />
b. The <strong>Pinto</strong> will be scored at all three gaits in both directions.<br />
c. The exhibitor may begin work in the direction (counter or<br />
clockwise) of their choice.<br />
d. Half-way audible signal (45 seconds) is optional per<br />
Show Management.<br />
e. At the end of one and one-half minutes (90 seconds)<br />
an audible indicator will signify the exhibitor and <strong>Pinto</strong><br />
need retire from the longeing area.<br />
f. All entries are to remain in the arena after they have<br />
been judged and should stand quietly while other<br />
entries are being judged.<br />
D. Judging<br />
1. Judges will be outside of the longeing circle.<br />
2. Entries are judged a maximum of eighty (80) points on<br />
movement, manner/expression/attitude – ten (10) points,<br />
conformation – twenty (20) points, suitable to purpose and<br />
use of circle – three (3) points.<br />
