c. To be measured on a flat, hard surface (e.g., concrete,<br />

plywood, etc.).<br />

d. The height of the heel shall be determined by<br />

measuring from the skin line on the lower side of<br />

the coronary band to the ground with the measuring<br />

device perpendicular to the ground.<br />

D. Measurement Certificate<br />

1. The owner of every pony and miniature in competition shall<br />

have a current PtHA or approved outcross measurement<br />

certificate available at all shows or be measured at each<br />

show.<br />

2. Those ponies and minatures having current approved<br />

permanent measurement certificates are not to be<br />

measured, except in the case of an official protest or if<br />

entered for competition in the <strong>Pinto</strong> World Championship<br />

Show where they must be measured by a qualified World<br />

Show official prior to showing.<br />

3. A permanent measurement certificate may be issued<br />

based on three years of non-growth documented by PtHA<br />

records on <strong>Pinto</strong>s (five) 5 years of age & older.<br />

4. A temporary PtHA measurement certificate is valid from<br />

January 1 to December 31 of the year in which it is issued.<br />

5. A penalty or fine may be assessed against a Show<br />

Committee that does not measure ponies or minatures, or<br />

inspect for current approved measurement certificate, prior<br />

to the pony and minature showing in the <strong>Pinto</strong>’s first class<br />

of the day. It is the responsibility of the Show Committee to<br />

do the measuring.<br />

C9. Type Designation<br />

A. Responsibility<br />

1. It is the responsibility of the owner to designate the<br />

conformation type of the <strong>Horse</strong> and/or Pony being<br />

registered on the application for registration. If a <strong>Pinto</strong> was<br />

not previously typed on the original Registration Certificate,<br />

the owner must type the <strong>Pinto</strong> prior to competition in a<br />

PtHA-approved show.<br />

2. Conformation type is determined by the breeding and/or<br />

conformation characteristics.<br />

3. Only one type is to be designated.<br />

4. <strong>Pinto</strong>s classified as a miniature or a utility are not assigned<br />

a type.<br />

B. Type Change<br />

1. The conformation type of a registered <strong>Pinto</strong> may be<br />

changed only once in its lifetime. This request is subject to<br />

special review of the Registrar.<br />

3. All fees are non-refundable.<br />

C. <strong>Horse</strong> Conformation Types<br />

1. Stock Type <strong>Horse</strong> - The Stock type <strong>Pinto</strong> horse is a<br />

horse of predominantly Quarter and Paint breeding and<br />

conformation suitable for western, hunter seat and a<br />

variety of other events.<br />

2. Hunter Type <strong>Horse</strong> - The Hunter type <strong>Pinto</strong> horse is a horse<br />

of predominantly Thoroughbred and approved European<br />

Warmblood breeding suitable for hunter, western and a<br />

variety of other events.<br />

3. Pleasure Type <strong>Horse</strong> - The Pleasure type <strong>Pinto</strong> horse is<br />

a of predominantly Arabian, Andalusian and/or Morgan<br />

breeding suitable for western, hunter and saddle seat,<br />

driving and a variety of other events.<br />

4. Saddle Type <strong>Horse</strong> - The Saddle type <strong>Pinto</strong> horse is a<br />

horse of predominantly Saddle, Andalusian, Hackney or<br />

Tennessee Walking <strong>Horse</strong> breeding, displaying high head<br />
