must not be asked to jump over any obstacles, but may<br />

be asked to drive over flat obstacles. Obstacles should<br />

simulate conditions normally encountered on a pleasant<br />

afternoon drive.<br />

3. This is not a timed event and the speed with which the<br />

course is completed should not be used in whole or in part<br />

to determine placing.<br />

4. Suggested obstacles unique to driving:<br />

a. Positioning one wheel (rear wheel if four-wheel<br />

vehicle) within a 24” minimum circle, pivot the <strong>Pinto</strong><br />

360° in either direction, maintaining the position of the<br />

wheel within the circle.<br />

b. Back the <strong>Pinto</strong> until an obstacle is bumped. Dislodging<br />

a jump could be used to evidence sufficient backing.<br />

c. Drive in a straight line, keeping one wheel between a<br />

12” minimum designated strip.<br />

d. Drive over a flat obstacle such as water, flat plywood,<br />

or firmly anchored tarp.<br />

e. Mount or dismount from either side of vehicle.<br />

f. Carry objects in the vehicle.<br />

g. Half circle serpentine, trot through cones<br />

(1) <strong>Horse</strong> course set nineteen (19) feet between<br />

cones.<br />

(2) Pony course set seventeen (17) feet between<br />

cones.<br />

(3) Miniature course set fifteen (15) feet between<br />

cones.<br />

h. Back & Walk-through half-circle serpentine<br />

(1) Pony course set seventeen (17) feet between<br />

cones.<br />

(2) Miniature course set fourteen & one-half (14 1/2)<br />

feet between cones.<br />

i. Deviation serpentine, trot through cones.<br />

(1) <strong>Horse</strong> course set twenty-one (21) feet between<br />

cones.<br />

(2) Pony course set nineteen (19) feet between cones.<br />

(3) Miniature course set sixteen and one-half (16 1/2)<br />

feet between cones.<br />

j. Drive through U.<br />

(1) <strong>Horse</strong> course set at ten (10) feet at IN and set at<br />

twelve (12) feet at OUT for walk through.<br />

(2) Pony course set at ten (10) feet at IN and set at<br />

ten (10) at OUT for walk through.<br />

(3) Miniature course set at ten (10) feet at IN and set<br />

at ten (10) feet at OUT for walk through.<br />

(4) For trot through, add two (2) feet to each<br />

dimension listed above.<br />

k. Offset gates – Trot through first gate. Then, still at<br />

a trot, circle back behind first gate and around and<br />

through next gate.<br />
