judges, and must reapply for approval in the usual<br />

manner.<br />

c. Designation as an approved <strong>Pinto</strong> <strong>Horse</strong> <strong>Association</strong><br />

judge is a privilege only, not a right. This privilege<br />

may be bestowed by the Judge Committee of PtHA<br />

in accordance with the procedures set up by this<br />

committee. Among the qualifications sought are equine<br />

expertise, personal character, and interest in the <strong>Pinto</strong><br />

breed. An individual’s conduct as a member, exhibitor,<br />

and judge, as well as his/her ability, are subject to<br />

review by the Executive Committee.<br />

d. Removal of an individual from the <strong>Association</strong>’s list<br />

of approved judges for any reason, including, but<br />

not limited to, suspension from membership, denial<br />

of <strong>Association</strong> privileges, or failure to comply with<br />

the <strong>Association</strong> rules, shall be with no provision for<br />

automatic reinstatement. Upon regaining eligibility for<br />

approved judging credentials, the individual may apply<br />

for reinstatement under the current procedures for<br />

admission of a new applicant.<br />

e. If a PtHA carded judge does not attend a PtHA<br />

sponsored Judges Seminar within a three (3) year<br />

period, his/her card will not be renewed.<br />

f. <strong>Rule</strong> book tests may be required of judges as deemed<br />

appropriate by the Judge’s Committee selectively or as<br />

a group at any time for any reason.<br />

g. A PtHA judge is required to judge at least one (1)<br />

approved PtHA every two (2) years in order to<br />

maintain his/her status as an approved judge.<br />

3. Judge Approval<br />

B. Regulations & Conduct<br />

1. A judge shall not be an exhibitor, show representative, or<br />

manager at any show at which he/she is officiating. When<br />

shows are held back to back, the judge may not participate<br />

in or observe the classes prior to the judging of the show at<br />

which he/she is officiating.<br />

2. No <strong>Pinto</strong> that has been leased from or sold by a judge or<br />

his/her employer within six (6) months prior to the show<br />

may be shown before said judge.<br />

3. Unless said relationship is terminated within six (6) months<br />

prior to the show, a judge shall not adjudicate in a class<br />

in which any of his/her family members, clients, or <strong>Pinto</strong>s<br />

are competing; in which his/her trainer or trainer’s clients<br />

or his/her <strong>Pinto</strong>s are competing; or in which clients of a<br />

member of his/her family are competing.<br />

4. No individuals, nor his/her <strong>Pinto</strong>s, may show before a<br />

judge with whom, within six (6) months prior to the show,<br />

he/she, or his/her parent, guardian, or instructor has had<br />

any financial transactions in connection with instruction<br />

or the sale, purchase, lease, board, or training of a horse,<br />

pony or miniature. (Stud fees and broodmare board<br />

excluded.)<br />

5. In a multi-judge show, an exhibitor may show before a<br />

judge with whom he/she has an exhibitor/owner/judge<br />

conflict of interest, provided the exhibitor/owner advises<br />

the show office of that fact prior to entering the class, and<br />

the show office must advise the judge not to place that<br />

horse/ exhibitor on his/her card. However, that entry does<br />

count as a class entry.<br />

6. A judge shall not discuss with an exhibitor the purchase,<br />

sale, or lease of any <strong>Pinto</strong> during a show at which he/she<br />

is officiating.<br />
