Imaginez une exposition où le public pourrait
manipuler, échanger et repartir avec les œuvres
des artistes. Une exposition où il participerait
au processus créatif en déposant des objets
personnels ou en donnant libre cours à sa
fantaisie. Cet espace utopique, bouleversant les
rapports traditionnels entre l’art et son public,
les salons xviii e siècle de la Monnaie de Paris
l’accueillent pendant un peu plus d’un mois.
Une parenthèse presque éphémère pour cette
fantaisie libertaire, mais qui constitue l’un des
temps forts de la rentrée. Take me (I’m Yours)
est en fait la reprise d’une première session
organisée, avec de nombreux artistes, par
Christian Boltanski et Hans Ulrich Obrist, il y
a vingt ans à la Serpentine Gallery de Londres.
Aujourd’hui, badges de Gilbert & George, écus
de Fabrice Hybert, arbre à vœux de Yoko Ono ou
distributeur de snacks de Christine Hill donnent
une vigueur nouvelle à ce désir d’échange et
de dissémination de l’art. ◆
Imagine an exhibition where viewers can handle,
discuss and then leave with the artists’ works. An
exhibition where visitors participate in the creative
process, bringing personal objects and giving free
rein to their imagination. For a month, starting
mid-September, the 18th-century salons of the
Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint) will host such a
utopian space, upsetting the traditional relationship
between art and its audience. An ephemeral
interlude for a radical fantasy that is nevertheless
a highlight of the season. Take me (I’m Yours) is
actually the continuation of an exhibition mounted
20 years ago by Christian Boltanski and Hans Ulrich
Obrist, among many other artists, at the Serpentine
Gallery in London. Today, Gilbert & George badges,
Fabrice Hybert crowns, Yoko Ono’s Wish Tree and
Christine Hill’s vending machines lend new vigor
to the desire to exchange and disseminate art.
