“Mfelice. Perché la felicità
ha questa controindicazione, dà

onnipotenza. Dura pochissimo,

Postorino spiega così il fatto che
“a volte immagina di tornare a

Rosella Postorino explains how

coming back to Liguria to live.”
Back to Liguria, where she grew
up, coming with her family from
far off Calabria. Now she lives in
Rome, having studied in Siena.
But if you read her little but very
intense book, Il mare in salita. Da
Sanremo a Dolcedo passando per
i bricchi [The Sea Uphill: from

through the hinterlands], you
will realize that in that place
which is “on the periphery of
everything” in truth, a vast
interior world opens up with a
look that embraces history,
evokes the past, and grabs a hold
of the present.
Rosella Postorino is very young,
but she is already an affirmed
writer. She has written several
novels, a successful play, and has
received many prizes. This book
came out last June in the
Contromano di Laterza Collection
– dedicated to voyages and
places – and is presented first as
a guide book, with all the
required maps, of the marvels of
the Riviera of the Flowers and its
beautiful and yet little known
hinterlands.

realtà un vasto mondo interiore e
uno sguardo che abbraccia la
storia, evoca il passato e afferra
il presente.
Rosella Postorino è molto
giovane, ma è già una scrittrice
affermata, ha pubblicato diversi
romanzi, una pièce teatrale di
successo, ha ricevuto numerosi
premi. Questo libro uscito lo
scorso giugno nella collana
Contromano di Laterza –
dedicata ai viaggi e ai luoghi - si
presenta a tutta prima come una
“guida”, con tanto di piantina
geografica, alle meraviglie della
Riviera dei fiori”e del suo
bellissimo e ancora poco
conosciuto entroterra.
E lo è, in effetti, ma la freschezza
letteraria, lo stile, la sensibilità
per le persone e le cose ne fanno
un testo che va ben oltre un
gradevole strumento di viaggio.
