The Genoese actor returns home after 34 years. He will perform in Ruzante’s “La
Moscheta” at the Teatro della Corte on November 15. “Suddenly out of the blue
came the desire to go back to my haunts, where I had my first theatrical adventure.”
He sees comedy as a balm for humor, and is convinced that to amuse, one must do
the unexpected. “Television puts everyone to sleep and makes everything
acceptable. Better one night at the theatre than a hundred in front of the TV”

«Casa
un po’ così dei genovesi che lavoro e
successo hanno portato via lontano. Si dice così
perché a casa si torna sempre volentieri: ci si
rilassa, «si allungano le gambe sotto il tavolo», si
riabbracciano i vecchi amici e ci si sente liberi di
dire quello che si vuole. Tullio Solenghi sente
sulla pelle queste buone sensazioni tutte le volte
che torna nella sua casa di Nervi, tra un lavoro
romano e l’altro. Sono occasioni rarissime,
però, «visite mordi e fuggi» ritagliate nella vita
lavorativa di un artista che ancora, dopo oltre
quarant’anni di carriera, rimane tra i volti più
noti della tv che conta. È per questo che per lo
Stabile di Genova si è dato con tanta passione
a uno dei testi più difficili – se non altro per il
linguaggio - del teatro nostrano: la Moscheta
di Ruzante, in scena alla Corte dal 15 novembre
al 7 dicembre con Maurizio Lastrico, Enzo Paci
e Barbara Moselli, sotto il sipario da cui tutto
iniziò.
Casa dolce casa: ritorna sul palco da cui è
partita la sua carriera di attore, comico,
showman e volto noto della tv. Da quanto
mancava?
L’ultima volta in uno spettacolo dello Stabile risale
a trentaquattro anni fa: era nel 1977, con
Lina Volonghi. Poi decisi di salutare la scuola
che mi aveva formato per affrontare le altre avventure
della mia carriera. Recentemente mi si
è ri-accesa la lampadina, mi son lasciato prendere
dalla voglia riconfrontarmi con il primo
amore e dal fascino che hanno tutte le sfide.
Cosa ha ritrovato, dopo tanti anni?
Carlo, Marco (Repetti e Sciaccaluga, direttore e
regista del Teatro, ndr) e tanti altri amici di un

he asks with that familiar accent and that

Genoese whose work and success has taken them far
away. That’s what they say, because they are happy to
come back. “They stretch their legs under the table”,
they embrace their old friends, and they suddenly feel
free to say what they think. Tullio Solenghi feels this
tingling inside every time he returns home to Nervi,
between one Rome job and another. The occasions are
only too rare though, “visits that are hit and run”, cut
out of the working life of an artiste who still, after over
forty years of his career, is one of the best known faces
on TV that counts. And this is why for the Teatro Stabile
in Genoa he is making such a passionate effort for an
extremely difficult text – if not just for its language –
from our theatre. Moscheta by Ruzante, plays at the
Teatro della Corte from November 15 to December 7
with Maurizio Lastrico, Enzo Paci and Barbara Moselli,
right there on the stage where it all began.
Home sweet home. To return to the theatre where
your career began. Actor, comedian, showman, and
TV star, how long have you been away?
The last time I acted in a show at the Stabile was
thirty-five years ago, in 1977 with Lina Volonghi. Then
after that, I decided to leave the school which had
formed me, so that I could face new adventures in my
career. But recently, out of the blue, came the desire to
revisit the place of my first love and with it that
fascination that all challenges bring.
And what did you find after all these years?
Carlo and Marco [editor’s note: Repetti and
Sciaccaluga are the theatre’s director and stage
director] and lots of other old friends. And then a city
that grows ever more beautiful.
And lots of comedy on the program at the Teatro
