sights on further growth: Over four million people
visit Germany‘s largest leisure park every year.

Jahr für Jahr. Mehr als 80 Prozent der Besucher sind
Wiederholer, die den Themenpark bereits mehrmals
besucht haben. Europa-Park-Chef Roland Mack:
Managing Director Roland Mack says: “We are
looking for opportunity despite the crisis. Many
people are preferring not to take a big holiday
and are coming to Europa-Park for a short break
instead.“
As a result, occupancy at the four themed hotels
is well over 90 %, once again above that of the
previous year. Planning for a new hotel is already
underway. “Europa-Park is one of the most important
tourist attractions in Germany,“ confirms
Andreas Braun, Business Manager at Tourismus-

immer beliebter bei den Besuchern. Die Wintersaison
im Europa-Park ist längst keine Nebensaison
mehr. Im Gegenteil, mit ihr werden neue Kunden
gewonnen, so Europa-Park-Chef Roland Mack.
„Der Anteil der Erstbesucher ist im Winter sogar
höher als im Sommer“, so Mack. Gerade für ältere
Besucher werde der Europa-Park so noch attraktiver.

Europa-Park very high marks, particularly for its
cleanliness, good layout and impressive size. The

in the crowds.
The story of the Mack Group began in 1780 in
the small, idyllic Black Forest town of Waldkirch
where Paul Mack, a trained coach builder,
made wheelbarrows, handcarts, stagecoaches and
sledges. There were no gramophones or other
electronic amusements, but there were fairground
organs. Construction of these valuable organs was
a tradition in Waldkirch and they needed to be
transported. This represented an opportunity for
the Mack family who at the same time met the demand
of circus operators and showmen for highquality
vehicles. In 1942 a specialist publication

wrote: “Thousands of showmen‘s vehicles have
been sent out from the factory in Waldkirch. The
company “Heinrich Mack Waldkirch“ now has a
monopoly in vehicle and roundabout construction
on the world market.“ Heinrich Mack III was soon
producing everything that showmen needed, including
roller-coasters, ghost trains, roundabouts and
dodgems. That was the breakthrough. Today, Mack
in Waldkirch trades under the name Mack Rides
GmbH & Co KG. That‘s the history.
