Reminder: Axiomatic Formulation of Quantum Mechanics
The possible states of a quantum mechanical system are represented
by unit vectors (called ”state vectors”). Formally, these reside in a complex separable
Hilbert space - variously called the ”state space” or the ”associated Hilbert
space” of the system - that is well defined up to a complex number of norm 1 (the
phase factor).
(ii) Jeder Observablen entspricht ein hermitescher Operator. Orts– und Impulsoperatoren
erfüllen dabei die Kommutationsrelationen Observables are represented by
Hermitian operators. The commutation relations of the position and momentum
operators read
[ˆx j , ˆp k ] = i Î δ jk, (0.1)
[ ˆp j , ˆp k ] = 0, (0.2)
[ˆx j , ˆx k ] = 0. (0.3)
(iii) Das Spektrum jedes hermiteschen Operators entspricht der Menge der zulässigen
Meßwerte der zugehörigen Observable. The spectrum of any Hermitian operator
corresponds to the set of allowed values of the corresponding observable.
