Lat. VENA. Spanish seems to have reversed the process in creating naba ‘swede
(rutabaga)’ for a larger version of the nabo ‘turnip’.
This concludes my observations on the secondary developments, though
doubtless I have not exhausted all the possible examples, and marks the end of
my survey of the Latin neuter plurals in Romance. I fear also that I have not
exhausted the subject, limited as I am by working in Japan, but I trust that this
survey will provide a good working basis for any future research.
