Other Useful Species of Cinnamomum 333
to ovate, initially densely microscopically sericeous, glabrescent, three-veined, lateral
veins terminating 1–2 cm below leaf-tip. Panicles axillary or pseudoterminal, densely
sericeous, flowers 3 mm long, cup 2 mm high, tepals 1.5–2 mm long, stiff, upright,
oblong, subacute. Fruit 11 8 mm, ellipsoid, apiculate with resinous odour, cotyledons
red (Dassanayake et al., 1995). Wijesekera and Jayewardene (1994) analysed this species
and found the main chemical constituents to be 1,8-cineole (15%), linalool (29%) and
eugenol (23%).
