Figure 2: Result <strong>of</strong> Model 1 3.3.2 Mediating effects A second model <strong>of</strong> SEM was tested (Figure 3) with indirect causal effects where OC and SP as structural capital (SC) items, and ISN and ESN as relational capital (RC) items mediated KW and TL as human capital (HC) items. The total variance <strong>of</strong> INP explained by <strong>the</strong> constructs was 70.6%. As previous simple model indicated that KW and TL did not directly affect INP, this model looked at <strong>the</strong> relationship <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> HC pair to INP through RC and SC pairs. The R 2 coefficients <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> four constructs OC, SP, ISN and ESN were 0.719, 0.376, 0.622 and 0.597 respectively. The Composite reliability, Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients and AVEs were all indicating internal consistence and reliability <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> items for <strong>the</strong> constructs. Lee The result confirms <strong>the</strong> first model that ESN and SP were major contributors to INP. Fur<strong>the</strong>rmore, it is observed that TL played critical role in <strong>the</strong> model affecting all four constructs. KW affected OC and to some degree ESN. SP affected ISN to some degree. However, due to <strong>the</strong> high significance values, we cannot confirm <strong>the</strong> impacts <strong>of</strong> KW on SP and ISN; OC on ISN and ESN; nor SP on ESN. The influence <strong>of</strong> OC and ISN toward INP also cannot be confirmed. Visual outputs depict <strong>the</strong> nonlinear relationships among <strong>the</strong> variables studied. It is observed that OC, ISN and ESN all exhibited positive relations on INP; <strong>the</strong> higher <strong>the</strong> values <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se constructs, <strong>the</strong> higher <strong>the</strong> value <strong>of</strong> INP. However, SP demonstrated an inverted U shape relationship with INP; when SP increased to a certain point INP decreased. This will imply that processes and standards are necessary to a certain extend, but will hinder <strong>the</strong> innovation performance growth when excessively used. An inverted U shape relationship was shown in KW on OC, KW on ESN, and SP on ESN. This will indicate that excessive intrinsic motivation <strong>of</strong> knowledge workers will damage innovation supportive culture and <strong>the</strong> external social network. Excessive systems and processes will also inhibit external social network. A diminishing rate <strong>of</strong> increase return was shown in KW, OC and SP on ISN, implying intrinsic motivation, innovation supportive culture and systems and processes helped internal social network but reached saturation at certain point. OC and KW on ESN had an S-shape curve that exhibited a most complicated relationship, as KW or OC increase, ESN first dropped and <strong>the</strong>n increased to a certain peak and <strong>the</strong>n dropped again. 177
