Preface
These proceedings represent <strong>the</strong> work <strong>of</strong> researchers participating in <strong>the</strong> <strong>8th</strong> <strong>International</strong> <strong>Conference</strong> on
Intellectual Capital, Knowledge Management & Organisational Learning – ICICKM 2011, which is being
hosted by <strong>the</strong> Institute for Knowledge and Innovation Sou<strong>the</strong>ast Asia (IKI-SEA) <strong>of</strong> Bangkok University,
Bangkok, Thailand.
The conference will be opened with a keynote from Patrick Lambe, Straits Knowledge, Singapore on <strong>the</strong>
topic <strong>of</strong> The three tribes: learning, knowledge management and intellectual capital. The keynote address on
<strong>the</strong> second day is delivered by William E. Halal from The George Washington University, Washington, DC,
USA on <strong>the</strong> subject <strong>of</strong> Collective Intelligence for Research and Strategy: With Highlights from <strong>the</strong> TechCast
Project.
The ICICKM <strong>Conference</strong> constitutes a valuable platform for individuals to present <strong>the</strong>ir research findings,
display <strong>the</strong>ir work in progress and discuss conceptual advances in many different branches <strong>of</strong> intellectual
capital, knowledge management and organisational learning. At <strong>the</strong> same time, it provides an important
opportunity for members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> KM community to come toge<strong>the</strong>r with peers, share knowledge and exchange
ideas. ICICKM has evolved and developed over <strong>the</strong> past eight years, and <strong>the</strong> range <strong>of</strong> papers accepted in
this year’s conference ensures an interesting two-day event.
Following an initial submission <strong>of</strong> 272 abstracts that have undergone a double blind peer review process, 71
research papers, 21 PhD research papers,6 work-in-progress papers and 2 non-academic papers are
published in <strong>the</strong> ICICKM 2011 <strong>Conference</strong> <strong>Proceedings</strong>, representing research results from Australia, Brazil,
Canada, China, Columbia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India,
Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Jordan, Lithuania, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Portugal, Romania,
Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Taiwan, The Ne<strong>the</strong>rlands, Thailand, UK, UAE, USA and Vietnam.
