2. With metering rods bottoming, revolve metering arm<br />

(K) until lip (H) (See insert) contacts vacumeter link (I).<br />

Hold arm (K) towards connector link side and carefully<br />

tighten the metering rod arm set screw (J).<br />

2. Check clearance between upper edge of choke valve and<br />

inner wall of air horn; this should be 1/8" (use Tool<br />

J-818-5), Figure 52.<br />

FAST IDLE ADJUSTMENT:<br />

1. With the thermostatic coil housing, gasket an d baffle<br />

plate removed, open throttle valve (F) Figure 51, and<br />

hold choke valve closed by holding down on choke lever<br />

(L).<br />

3. If adjustment is necessary, bend arm (N) on choke trip<br />

lever. Use Tool KMO-478 (T-109-187).<br />

2. Then close throttle. There should now be .026" clearance<br />

(use gauge KMO-658, T-109-189) between the throttle<br />

valve and bore of carburetor (side opposite idle port).<br />

Adjust by bending the choke connector rod at lower<br />

angle (M).<br />

UNLOADER ADJUSTMENT:<br />

This adjustment must be made after making the fast idle<br />

adjustment.<br />

1. Hold the throttle valve wide open and close the choke<br />

valve as far as possible without forcing.<br />

IDLE ADJUSTMENT:<br />

1. With carburetor Installed on engine, start engine and<br />

allow engine to warm up.<br />

2. See that choke valve is wide open.<br />

3. Set idle adjustment screws to obtain smooth idle at 540 to<br />

560 RPM. (If car is equipped with the Hydra-Matic<br />

Transmission, set idle at 490 to 510 RPM.<br />

4. On eight cylinder engines the normal screw setting is 1<br />

to 1-1/2 turns open on six cylinder engines 1/2 t o 1-1/2<br />

turns open.<br />

REMOVAL:<br />

WGD CARBURETOR<br />

1. Remove the air cleaner. Loosen clamp at carburetor air<br />

horn.<br />

2. Disconnect throttle linkage at carburetor.<br />

3. Disconnect fuel line from carburetor to fuel pump<br />
