5. Apply a small amount of water pump grease to head of<br />

horn wire terminal.<br />

6. Place contact cup in position and install horn button.<br />

7. Rotate button to lock in place.<br />

INSTALLATION:<br />

1. Start bearing into jacket tube by hand.<br />

REMOVAL:<br />

JACKET TUBE BEARING<br />

2. Using Replacer tool J-2952, Figure 4, drive bearing to a<br />

depth of 31/32" on cars without direction indicator. If car<br />

is equipped with direction indicator, drive bearing to a<br />

depth of 1-11/32" from top of tube.<br />

3. Replace jacket bearing spacer and spring.<br />

4. Replace steering wheel.<br />

1. Remove steering wheel in accordance with instructions.<br />

2. Remove jacket bearing spring and spacer.<br />

3. Engage fingers of Bearing Puller J-2792 below the<br />

bearing and place locating pins in slots in head of<br />

puller, Figure 3.<br />

4. Turn the center screw of puller against steering column<br />

tube and remove bearing.<br />

REMOVAL:<br />

STEERING GEAR JACKET TUBE<br />

1. Remove steering wheel.<br />

2. Remove bearing spring and spacer.<br />

3. Remove remote control. tube bracket (upper). On cars<br />

equipped with direction indicator, remove direction<br />

indicator switch assembly.<br />

4. Remove steering column bracket cap at instrument panel.
