ENGINE TUNE-UP 2 -21<br />

2. Hold throttle lever closed and pull cam back until low step<br />

is against but not on set screw (B), Figure 35.<br />

3. Clearance between lower edge of choke valve and air horn<br />

should be 5/8" as shown at (A), Figure 38.<br />

4. Adjust by bending fast idle link at offset portion.<br />

UNLOADER ADJUSTMENT (WGD):<br />

This adjustment must be made after making the fast idle<br />

adjustment.<br />

1. Hold the throttle valve wide open and close the choke valve<br />

as far as possible without forcing.<br />

2. Check clearance between upper edge of choke valve and<br />

inner wall of air horn; this should be 1/8" (use Tool<br />

J-818-5), Figure 37.<br />

3. If adjustment is necessary, bend arm (N) on choke trip<br />

lever (Use Tool T-109-187).<br />

UNLOADER ADJUSTMENT (WA1):<br />

1. Open throttle wide open and check clearance be t we en<br />

lower edge of choke valve and air horn. Clearance should<br />

be 7/16" (A), Figure 38.<br />

2. Adjust by bending cam (B) on throttle lever.<br />

IDLE ADJUSTMENT (WGD):<br />

1. With carburetor Installed on engine, start engine and<br />

allow engine to warm up.<br />

2. See that choke valve is wide open.<br />

3. Set idle adjustment screws (A), Figure 39, to obtain<br />

smooth idle at 540 to 560 R.P.M. (If car is equipped with<br />

Hydra-Matic, set idle at 490-510 R.P.M.).<br />

4. On eight cylinder engines the normal screw setting is 1 to<br />

1-1/2 turns open, on six cylinder engines 1/2 to 1-1/2<br />

turns open.<br />

IDLE ADJUSTMENT (WA1):<br />

1. Start engine and allow to warm up.<br />

2. See that choke valve is wide open.<br />

3. Set idle adjustment screw (A), Figure 40, to obtain smooth<br />

idle at 540 to 560 R.P.M. If car is equipped with Hydra-<br />

Matic, set idle at 490-510 R.P.M. Cars equipped with
