7. Install tie rod end at steering arm (13).<br />

9. Install wheel assembly and lower car.<br />

When the car does not seem to be level and a check of<br />

the coil spring height is desired, place the c a r so that<br />

the front end is level crosswise, and then rock the car<br />

sidewise several times and allow the car to settle. This<br />

will remove any binding that might cause a dimensional<br />

difference.<br />

2. Install coil spring (2), Figure 1.<br />

NOTE: Flat end of spring must be at top. Bottom must<br />

rest in lower support arm spring seat. Be sure silencer is in<br />

upper spring seat.<br />

When installing new springs or shims be sure to install new<br />

silencers.<br />

3. Lower the car, which will compress spring and position<br />

lower support arm pivot (3) to frame cross-member.<br />

4. Install lower support arm pivot attaching bolts (4) and<br />

tighten securely.<br />

5. Install shock absorber<br />

Measure the distance from the top of the lower support<br />

arm rubber bumper seat to the bottom of the upper rebound<br />

bracket, which should be 3-15/16" each side, Figure 6.<br />

26. Upper support arm Spring with red marking must be<br />

28. Upper support arm pivot and bushing assembled on<br />

right side of car.<br />

29. Upper support arm pivot to frame bolts Springs with<br />

white marking on<br />

30. Shock absorber upper stud nut left side of car.<br />

If the two measurements vary more than 1/2" between<br />

sides, it is advisable to replace one or both coil springs.<br />

NOTE: A daub of paint has been placed across the two<br />

center coils of each spring as follows:<br />

Spring with red marking must be<br />

assembled on right side of car.<br />

Springs with white marking on<br />

left side of car.
