4. Remove the retaining clip at the end of the clutch cam,<br />

Figure 14, this will allow removal of the cam and the<br />

pinion cage assembly.<br />

7, Remove the solenoid attaching screws, turn the solenoid<br />

one-quarter turn clock-wise and remove, Figure<br />

5. Remove the "U" clip located between the free<br />

wheeling cam and pinion cage and separate these<br />

units, Figure 15.<br />

8. Remove the large snap ring at the adapter plate, Figure<br />

6. Remove the sun gear and shift rail assembly, Figure<br />

9. The retainer plate, the sun gear, control plate and blocker<br />

assembly, and the pawl can then be removed, Figure 19.<br />

10. The interlock lock plunger can be removed by lifting out<br />

the plug at the adapter with a sharp punch. Remove<br />

interlock by pushing it through the opening uncovered<br />

by the plug. Use a stiff wire and work through the<br />

opening uncovered by the solenoid.<br />
