Intensity maps of great historical earthquakes.In zone F (Tenasserim Range), the Taungyi earthquake of May 1912, havinga magnitude about 8 and maximum intensity IX (R.F. scale), was felt throughoutBurma and part of Thailand. The intensity map of the Taungyi earthquake is shownin Figure 3(c). Major faults in this area are the Taungyi fault, Pan Laung fault,Moei-Uthai Thani fault zone, Si Sawat fault and Three Pagoda fault (Figure 7).In zone C, the Pyu earthquake of May 1930 and the Pegu earthquake of December1930, each having magnitude 7.3 and maximum intensity IX (M.M. scale), causedintensive damages throughout Burma and Thailand. The intensity maps of thesetwo events are shown in Figure 3 (d,e).
