Intensity maps of great historical earthquakes.In zone F (Tenasserim Range), <strong>the</strong> Taungyi earthquake of May 1912, havinga magnitude about 8 and maximum intensity IX (R.F. scale), was felt throughoutBurma and part of Thailand. The intensity map of <strong>the</strong> Taungyi earthquake is shownin Figure 3(c). Major faults in this area are <strong>the</strong> Taungyi fault, Pan Laung fault,Moei-Uthai Thani fault zone, Si Sawat fault and Three Pagoda fault (Figure 7).In zone C, <strong>the</strong> Pyu earthquake of May 1930 and <strong>the</strong> Pegu earthquake of December1930, each having magnitude 7.3 and maximum intensity IX (M.M. scale), causedintensive damages throughout Burma and Thailand. The intensity maps of <strong>the</strong>setwo events are shown in Figure 3 (d,e).
