~48 Katsuyuki AbeSieh (1978) and others list the earthquake originating at Parkfield on March 21,23:45 (PST), 1901. No Milne data have been found for this shock. Ample evidenceindicates that the actual date is March 2 in PST or March 3 in GMT (McAdie, 1907;BAAS, 1911; Townley and Allen, 1939). The Milne data for this shock (CA05) areshown in Table 5. Similarly, the actual date for the earthquake of October 28,1909, in Richter (1958), is October 29. The earthquake of CA07 is not listed byToppozada et al. (19781, because it originated in northern Baja California. Richter(1958) assigned magnitude 7+. The Milne data give Ms = 6.6, as shown in Table 6.The San Francisco earthquake of April 18, 1906 (CAll), was formerly assignedMGR = 8 i by Gutenberg and Richter (1954), and later revised to be Ms = 7.8from the Milne data by Abe and Noguchi (1983). The station corrections have beenincorporated in the present estimate, and the previous value of Ms = 7.8 has beenunchanged to a tenth of a unit.Table 5.
