mefenacet and simetrin were observed in May and July, respectively; those offungicides (phthalide and isoprothiolane) and insecticides (fenitrothion andfebobucarb) were observed in July–August (Mitobe et al. 1999). The herbicideconcentrations were generally higher in Mayand June than in July and August, which reflects that the herbicides are applied inthe paddy fields of the investigated river basin mostly during May through June. Onthe other hand, insecticides and fungicides were detected at the highestconcentrations in June–July and July–August, respectively. The difference dependedon their application periods, i.e., the insecticides were applied mainly in June–July,and the fungicides in July –August.AcademyPublish.org - The Impact of Pesticides208
