Note that p,p’-DDE has a great potential for magnification in the food chain and it is verypersistent between other breakdown products of DDT. Unfortunately it was toxicitymuch higher than DDT. The low DDT/DDE ratios (exclude the found levels foryear 2007) recorded in the current study indicates the lack of recent use for DDTformulations. Levels of other metabolites p,p’-DDD and o,p’-DDE were lower thanp,p’-DDE. Their levels were elevated for years 2006 and 2007. Degradation processand their stability were the main factors.
