Pesticide Residues indicated a possible risk to health, which has restrained theCodex Alimentarius Committee from setting a maximum residue level for many <strong>of</strong>these compounds. As already stated by other authors (Van Dyk and Pletschke,2011), an effective strategy for dealing with pesticide contamination in theenvironment has to commence with an assessment <strong>of</strong> the extent <strong>of</strong> the problem.However, monitoring programs for pesticides are scarce, particularly in developingcountries.
