Technical HCH isn’t in use in our country but the present concentrationsare being influenced by past produce and a use <strong>of</strong> HCHs. Lindane was not the majorcontributor. Concentrations <strong>of</strong> other Lindane isomer were highest in musselsamples. <strong>The</strong>se isomers and other compounds such as chlor-benzenes wereconsidered waste <strong>of</strong> Lindane fabric. <strong>The</strong>se wastes were discharged directly to thesea. Degradation process, physical-chemical properties for HCH isomers build theirrelative contribute. Concentration <strong>of</strong> b- HCH was higher than the other isomers’because <strong>of</strong> its higher tendencies to accumulate in fatty tissue. It was noted that betaisomer is missing for samples <strong>of</strong> years 2003 and 2006. Alfa and delta isomers <strong>of</strong>HCH were found almost for all analyzed samples. <strong>The</strong>y come into in industrialprocess <strong>of</strong> Lindane produce. <strong>The</strong>se isomers and other compound were separate fromtechnical Lindane and were treated as waste. This was the main factor for theirpresence in mussel samples for Porto-Romano station. <strong>The</strong> α/γ HCH ratio, anindicator <strong>of</strong> current technical HCH application, was lower. Again this likely reflectsrecent use <strong>of</strong> HCH formulations. Discharging <strong>of</strong> waste in working period forLindane chemical plant before 90’ and after that mismanagement <strong>of</strong> wasterepositories <strong>of</strong> ex-chemical plant were the main factors for found levels in thisstation.
