Power steering pump, reservoir and hydraulic lines<br />

- Remove hose clamp 3094 from intake and return hoses.<br />

- Start engine and if necessary add fluid to reservoir.<br />

- Turn steering wheel from lock to lock about 10 times.<br />

- Check delivery pressure.<br />

Requirements:<br />

• V-belt/V-belt tension OK<br />

• System has no leaks<br />

• Hoses/lines not kinked or restricted<br />

- With engine running at idling speed. Close shut-off valve<br />

(not longer than 5 seconds) and read off pressure.<br />

Specifications<br />

Gasoline engines: 85 to 95 bar<br />

Diesel engines: 96 to 105 bar<br />

Note:<br />

• If the reading is higher or lower than specified replace<br />

pump:<br />

• Removing and installing P.A.S. power steering pump,<br />

vehicles with high mounted power steering pump<br />

48-6, P.A.S. power steering pump, vehicles with high<br />

mounted power steering pump, removing and<br />

installing and 48-6, P.A.S. power steering pump,<br />

vehicles with high mounted power steering pump,<br />

removing and installing .<br />

• If reservoir fluid level is low then check steering<br />

system for leaks.<br />

• For leaks at the pinion first check the lines/line<br />

connections for leaks and if necessary tighten and<br />

wipe dry.<br />

• If the pinion seal or the rack seals in steering<br />

transmission housing are leaking then replace<br />

steering transmission.<br />

• To check the rack seals loosen the hose clip on the<br />

boot and push boot to one side.<br />
