Distribution. Temperate Himalaya, from Kashmir to<br />
Kumaon, 4,000-13,000 ft., Sikkim, 10,000-12,000 ft.,<br />
Afghanistan and N. Persia, N. temperate regions.<br />

Stems 2-3 ft. high, stout, branched, hairless. Leaves<br />
stalked, egg-shaped-oblong or heart-shaped-egg-shaped, coarsely<br />
irregularly toothed, 1-3 in. long stalk<br />

short, stout, erect. Sepals 5, round, with a membranous<br />
