A perennial herb. Stems li ft. high. Leaves 2-2i in. long,<br />
almost stalkless, lance-shaped, hairless, often reddish,<br />
beautifully nerved, base narrowed. Involucres bell-shaped,<br />
hairy without, velvety within, lobes elongate, ciliate, glands<br />
stalked, margins crisply wavy. Styles rather long, shortly<br />
bifid, united for i their length. Capsule small. Seeds smooth.<br />

A perennial, hairless herb. Stems simple, sparingly leafy,<br />
1 ft. high, unbranched, scaly at the base. Leaves f-l| in. long,<br />
stalkless, alternate, elliptic or egg-shaped, more or less blunt,<br />
leathery. Involucres bell-shaped, i in. broad, hairless without,<br />
with 4 hairy lines within, lobes short, fringed ; glands almost<br />
stalkless, transversely oblong. Styles long, slender. Capsule<br />
large, oblong, short -stalked, i in. long, i in. diameter ; cocci<br />
separated by a shallow furrow. Seeds i in. long, pale, smooth,<br />
oblong.<br />
Locality. Leh, 10,000-12,000 ft. ; Gilgit.<br />
Distribution. Apparently endemic in Kashmir.<br />
Euphorbia tibetica, Boiss. Tibetan Spurge.<br />
A perennial herb, quite hairless. Stems many, almost erect<br />
or straggling, 6-12 in. high, with forked branching. Leaves<br />
i-f in. long, alternate, stalkless, linear- or spoon-shaped-oblong,<br />
tip rounded or truncate, notched or toothed. Involucres<br />
axillary or in the forks, very short, TV in. broad, hairless<br />
within, lobes small, egg-shaped, lobulate or toothed; glands<br />
large, transversely oblong. Styles short, stout. Capsule<br />
^-^ in. diameter, pale green, smooth, furrows between the<br />
oblong cocci shallow. Seeds smooth.<br />
Locality. Karakoram, 10,700 ft.<br />
Distribution. W. Himalaya, up to 15,000 ft.
