Salvia plebeia,<br />

A roughly hairy annual herb. Stems 6-18 in. high. Leaves<br />
stalked, 1-3 in. long, oblong or egg-shaped, blunt, toothed.<br />
Flower-whorls numerous. Bracts small, lower leaf-like, upper<br />
lance-shaped. Flowers hardly i in. long, lilac or nearly white.<br />
Calyx bell-shaped, $ in. long, upper lip entire. Corolla- tube<br />
very short, included ; upper lip short, nearly straight, slightly<br />
flattened, concave. Nutlets very small, ellipsoid.<br />
