Nepeta eriostachya,<br />

here alluding to the densely hairy spike.)<br />
Stem ascending or erect, 6-10 in. high, almost simple,<br />
sparsely hairy. Leaves stalkless or almost so, broadly eggshaped,<br />
blunt, crenate, cordate at the base, hairy beneath,<br />
J-i in. long, sometimes nearly as broad. Flower-spike oblong,<br />
dense -flowered, densely long-hairy, 1-3 in. long. Bracts<br />
oblong-linear and awl-shaped, as long as the calyx. Calyx<br />
stalkless, 4 in. long, membranous, teeth slender, very hairy,<br />
as long as the tube. Corolla bright blue, twice as long as the<br />
calyx. Stamens included.<br />
Locality. Sonamarg.<br />
Distribution. W. temperate Himalaya, from Kashmir,<br />
11,500 ft., to Garhwal, 11,000-12,000 ft.<br />

A glandular-hairy, strongly scented herb. Stems stout,<br />
strict, erect, leafy, li-2 ft. high. Loaves small, -1 in. long,<br />
stalkless, egg-heart-shaped, sharp-pointed, deeply cut, often<br />
half-stem-clasping. Flower-whorls few-flowered, distant, or<br />
the uppermost forming a spike. Bracts linear-oblong, longpointed,<br />
slightly shorter than the calyx. Calyx stalked, J- in.<br />
long, teeth egg-shaped, suddenly sharp-pointed, much shorter<br />
than the tube. Corolla f in. long, white or blue, tube curved,<br />
slender, lips short. Nutlets smooth.<br />
Locality. Subalpine region.<br />

Stems 2-3 ft.<br />
high, erect, branched, nearly cylindric, whitehairy,<br />
leafy. Leaves small, i-1 in. long, almost stalkless, eggshaped,<br />
sharp-pointed or blunt, crenate, hairy on both surfaces ;<br />
stalks 0-i in. long. Spikes terminal, interrupted. Whorls<br />
distant, few-flowered, the lower very shortly stalked, axillary.<br />
Bracts lance-shaped. Calyx 3- in. long, woolly, upper teeth<br />
much shorter than the tube, triangular, lower awl-shaped,<br />
much shorter. Corolla thrice as long as the calyx ;<br />
tube<br />
curved, funnel- shaped ; lips short. Nutlets linear-oblong.<br />
