Nepeta Clarkei, Hook. f.<br />
Stems erect, strict, finely hairy, obtusely angled, branched.<br />
Leaves short-stalked, egg-shaped-oblong, or egg-lance-shaped,<br />
toothed or crenate, base sharp-pointed or heart-shaped, 1-2 in.<br />
long, stalk J-i in. Whorls dense-flowered, distant, in terminal,<br />
3-6 in. long spikes and shortly stalked in the lower axils.<br />
Bracts lance-shaped, lower leafy. Calyx J in. long, hairy,<br />
nearly straight, mouth oblique ;<br />
teeth almost equal, triangular,<br />
sharp-pointed, much shorter than the tube. Corolla 4 in. long,<br />
blue ;<br />
tube very slender, 3 times as long as the calyx, mouth<br />
dilated ; lips small, less than i in. across. Nutlets linear.<br />
Locality. Tilail, 11,000 ft. ; Kunylwan, 7,500 ft. (Clarke).<br />

(Discolor means having various colours.)<br />
Eootstock elongate. Stems weak, erect or ascending, hairy<br />
or hairless. Leaves stalked, i in. long more or less, broadly<br />
egg-shaped or egg-heart-shaped, crenate, often white with<br />
appressed hairs beneath. Spikes egg-shaped or cylindric,<br />
li in. long. Bracts elliptic, very sharp-pointed, as long as the<br />
calyx. Calyx i in. long, stalkless, hairy, teeth filiform, awlshaped,<br />
as long as the tube. Corolla white or pale blue.<br />
Besembles N. raphanorhiza, but has not the tuberous<br />
rootstock of that species.<br />
Locality. Temperate and alpine regions.<br />
Distribution. From Kashmir to Garhwal, 10,000-15,000 ft.,<br />
Afghanistan.<br />

Stem 1-2 ft.<br />
high, erect or ascending, often fiexuous, usually<br />
woolly, branched. Leaves stalkless or almost so, i-li in.<br />
long, elliptic-oblong or oblong-heart-shaped, tip rounded or<br />
sharp-pointed, margin sharply toothed, nerves on lower surface<br />
prominent. Spike interrupted at the base, li-3 in. long.<br />
Bracts egg- or lance-shaped, awned. Flowers about iin. long,<br />
pale blue or nearly white. Calyx stalkless, \ in. long, teeth<br />
filiform, ciliate, as long as the tube. Corolla-tube hardly<br />
longer than the calyx.<br />
Locality. Temperate region.<br />
Distribution. W. temperate Himalaya, from Kashmir to<br />
Kumaon, 7,000-9,000 ft.
