erect. Flower-stalks hairy. Bracts hairy, much shorter than<br />
the flower-stalks, the outer ones lance-shaped, blunt, the<br />
inner linear. Calyx bell-shaped, as long as the corolla-tube,<br />
cleft almost to the base, lobes egg-lance-shaped, blunt.<br />
Corolla flesh-coloured, finally getting white, lobes inversely<br />
egg-shaped-round, or round and notched, throat yellow, limb<br />
| in. diameter.<br />
Locality. Banehal.<br />
Distribution. N. W. Himalaya, from Chitral and Hazara<br />
to Kashmir.<br />

Very variable. The whole plant densely covered with<br />
silvery hairs. Stems leafy ;<br />
stolon-like branches 2-12 in.<br />
long, leafy throughout and with scattered rosettes. Leaves<br />
i-f in. long, i-1 in. broad, lance- to ogg-shaped, sharp-pointed,<br />
stalkless. Flowering stems axillary, If in. long. Bracts<br />
usually y in. long, silvery, oblong-lance-shaped or linear.<br />
Flower-stalks 1-lJ times longer than the bracts; umbels<br />
during flowering-time more or less contracted. Calyx<br />
the middle, lobes egg-shaped. Corolla pale- or dark-purple,<br />
usually tinged with blue, centre yellow, tube as long as the<br />
corolla-tube, lobes round-inversely egg-shaped, scarcely notched,<br />
limb J-f in. diameter. Capsule 4-6-seeded. Seeds angular.<br />

Distribution. W. Himalaya, from Kashmir to Kumaon,<br />

stalkless, xVi in. long, iV in. broad, blunt or mucronate,<br />
ciliate on the margins. Flowering stems 2-5 in. long, transparent<br />
or slightly glandular-hairy. Bracts oblong-lanceshaped,<br />
blunt, i in. long, ciliate. Flower-stalks very short or<br />
none. Flowers 3-6 forming a head, rarely only 1 flower.<br />
Calyx cleft almost to the middle, lobes triangular* blunt.<br />
Tube of corolla as long as the calyx-lobes, lobes roundinversely<br />
egg-shaped, limb about i in. diameter.
