Orobanche kashmirica, C. B. Clarke. Kashmir Broom-rape.<br />
A hairy, pale brown plant. Stem simple, up to 1 ft. high.<br />
Scales lance-shaped, i-i in, long, few, distant. Bracts lanceshaped,<br />
i-J in. long, longer than the calyx. No bracteoles.<br />
Calyx i in. long, equally 5-toothed, cleft to the base at the<br />
back, entire in front, short, teeth broad, sharp-pointed.<br />
Corolla pale brown, J-f in. long, softly hairy, tube broad,<br />
lobes rounded. Filaments attached to the base of the corolla,<br />
hairy below<br />

anthers small, included in the tube, minutely<br />
hairy.<br />
Locality. Tilail, 11,000 ft. (Clarke).<br />
Distribution. Apparently endemic.<br />
Orobanche ramosa, Linn. Branching Broom-rape.<br />
Mealy-hairy or almost hairless. Stem 6-12 in. high,<br />
usually thick below and at once dividing into rather slender<br />
erect branches. Scales few. Flower-spikes slender, longer<br />
than the stem, lax-flowered, narrowed upwards. Bracts eggshaped,<br />
long-pointed, shorter than the corolla-tube, variable in<br />
length. Bracteoles filiform. Calyx half the length of the<br />
corolla-tube, lobes slender, awl-shaped, broad at the base.<br />
Corolla 2-f in. long, hairy within and without, tube narrow,<br />
white, lobes blue, hairy on the margin. Filaments hairless,<br />
anthers sparsely hairy or hairless.<br />

(Psila is a Greek word and means naked.)<br />
Mealy-hairy. Stem 12-18 in. high, simple, slender. Scales<br />
long, awl-lance-shaped, i-1 in. long. Flower-spike short, laxflowered,<br />
2-3 in. long, blunt at tip. Bracts lance-shaped, as<br />
long as the flower, lower ones f in. long. Bracteoles filiform.<br />
Calyx half as long as the corolla. Corolla blue, 4-f in. long,<br />
curved, hairy within and without, lobes very hairy within,<br />
2 upper ones rounded, 2 lower elliptic. Filaments and anthers<br />
hairy.<br />
Iroca&fy. Mapanon, 9,000 ft. (Clarke).<br />
Distribution. Apparently endemic.
