Stolons 2-5 in. long. Leaves forming rosettes, none on the<br />
stem, |-1| in. long, i-f in. broad, more or less woolly, the<br />
young ones silvery hairy, finally hairless, always stalkless,<br />
lance-shaped, sharp-pointed, entire. Flowering stems hairy,<br />
about 5 times as long as the leaves, measuring usually about<br />
4 in. Bracts 2 in. long, linear-lance-shaped, hairy. Flowerstalks<br />
many, 3-4 times as long as the bracts, woolly. Calyx<br />
cleft to the middle, lobes triangular, blunt. Corolla pale pinkpurple<br />
or rose-coloured, tube as long as the calyx-lobes, lobes<br />
round-inversely egg-shaped, blunt, entire, limb 1-iin. diameter.<br />
Flowers. June, July.<br />
Locality. Basam Gali, abundant on slopes below Pass ;<br />
Tosh Maidan along top of ridge Aporwat above Gulmarg,<br />
;<br />
open rocky and scrubby hill-side, above 10,500 ft.<br />
Distribution. Himalaya, from Kashmir to Nepal, Yunnan.<br />
Note. Hooker's varieties yrandifolia, primuloides and/ofo'osa<br />
mentioned in the " Flora of British India " are not included in<br />
this<br />
