Stems i-2^ ft. high, rigid, slender. Leaves Ij by J in.,<br />

narrowly lance-shaped, stalkless. Flowers blue in panicles,<br />

many, stalks 0-i in. Sepals i by -&$ in., lance-shaped, sharppointed.<br />

Corolla tube-shaped, opening when only i in. long,<br />

but enlarging<br />

till in fruit it measures more than in., lobes 5,<br />

short, i by i in. in fruit, triangular-lance-shaped. Stamens 5,<br />

shorter than the corolla-lobes, anthers oblong-arrow-shaped.<br />

Ovary 1-celled, stigma 2-lobed. Capsule i in. long, ellipsoid,<br />

compressed, very shortly stalked. Seeds 10-30.<br />

Locality. Zoji La.<br />

Distribution. Alpine W. Himalaya, 8,000-13,000 ft.<br />

An erect herb, closely resembling the preceding species, but<br />

stouter and with broader leaves. Leaves oblong-long-pointed.<br />

Sepals unequal, egg-shaped or inversely egg-shaped, or round,<br />

i by i-J in. Capsule stalkless. Seeds ^V in. long.<br />

Locality. Thaj was.<br />

Distribution. Alpine W. Himalaya, 9,000-13,000 ft.<br />
