A tall, robust, perennial, sticky-hairy herb. Leaves longstalked,<br />

egg-halbert- or egg-heart-shaped, toothed ;<br />

often 10 in. long. Flower-whorls distant, few (6-) and laxflowered.<br />

Calyx broadly and shortly bell-shaped, upper lip<br />

entire, truncate, the lower longer with egg-shaped teeth.<br />

Corolla very large, li in. long, blue ;<br />

throat very inflated.<br />

Nutlets $ in. long, elliptic-inversely egg-shaped, compressed.<br />

Eesembles Salvia glutinosa, but can be distinguished by<br />

shorter racemes, longer leaf-stalks, broader leaves, blue flowers,<br />

broader calyx, larger corolla with the throat very inflated.<br />

Flowers. June to August.<br />

Locality. Gulmarg, margs and hills, grassy and rocky<br />

ground, above 8,000 ft., common; Tosh Maidan, 11,000-<br />

12,000 ft.<br />

Distribution. Kashmir, apparently endemic.<br />

A tall, perennial herb, viscidly hairy, strongly scented.<br />

Stems 2-3 ft. high. Leaves stalked, egg-shaped-oblong, 3-8 by<br />

li-4 in., crenate or sharply toothed, base usually prolonged<br />

outwards in 2 pointed lobes, rarely heart -shaped or tapering<br />

downwards stalk 1-3 in. ; long. Mower-whorls distant, fewand<br />

lax-flowered, forming large, branched, spreading panicles.<br />

Flowers 1-li in. long, yellow, upper lip purple, dotted. Bracts<br />

small, leaf-like. Calyx J in. long, broadly bell- shaped, upper<br />

lip entire, teeth of lower egg-shaped. Corolla 1-li in. long,<br />

tube longer than the calyx; upper lip long, curved, flattened,<br />

concave. Nutlets in. long, elliptic-inversely egg-shaped,<br />

compressed, smooth.<br />

Locality. Drang, above village, 7,000 ft. ;<br />

Gulmarg, woody<br />

hill-sides, common Ganderbal.<br />
