CAPP activities as related to SEAP Priority Actions of <strong>Luxor</strong><br />
This template will guide the municipality in the implementation of a strategy and the identification of<br />
adequate awareness raising activities according to the target group and its needs and related to the<br />
priority actions identified in the <strong>SECAP</strong>.<br />
<strong>SECAP</strong> Priority Actions<br />
Related CAPP Activities:<br />
1- Rationalizing energy<br />
consumption and reducing<br />
the amount of fossil fuel<br />
needed to generate energy.<br />
Target Audience:<br />
- Civil society (Specifically, youth, women and school children).<br />
Key Message:<br />
- Reduce electricity consumption in order to save money from<br />
the annual Municipality expenses.<br />
- Consuming energy more responsibly will benefit the city at<br />
both environment and economic levels<br />
- Rationalisation saves your money and decreases the powercuts<br />
suffered by the governorate<br />
Objectives:<br />
- Launch a campaign to raise awareness of the importance of<br />
rationalization in the consumption of electricity<br />
- Explain and value the importance of the environment and<br />
the impact of pollution on public health and environmental<br />
quality<br />
- Shift as much as possible to use clean and renewable energy<br />
Communication Tools:<br />
Access to people and target groups in cities and villages through<br />
a campaign, public hearings and informal seminars with large<br />
families in villages, government centres and youth centres.<br />
Organization of a festival to broadcast the idea of Green Corner<br />
of environmental awareness in a school with media coverage to<br />
repeat the experiment (Projection of free available<br />
environmental documentary, distribution of LED lamps…).<br />
Organization of Fine Art Symposium and Sculpture on “protecting<br />
the environment” theme.<br />
Participating to the international “Earth hour” event by WWF,<br />
where people across the world turn their lights off for one hour.<br />
Launch a campaign promoting the purchase and use of high<br />
energy label equipment among the residents.<br />
Distribute fact sheets with electricity bills that include data on the<br />
importance of solar energy, its advantages and the savings<br />
