A POSSIBLE CHANGE IN THE TEACHING OF THE<br />

ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIETY<br />

This dissertation tells us in details about the general idea of the schools in Bácska and Bánát having modern demonstrating<br />

instruments, the working habits of the teachers in areas that we think are up to date, and based upon this<br />

we recommend some possible essential changes to the education.<br />

The subject of the composition is the modernizing the teaching of Environment and Society in the lower grades<br />

of the primary school. It contains a survey-based research that we did in 12 schools including 61 teachers of Bácska<br />

and Bánát. The questions concerned seven issues that we think should be the part of the modern education.These<br />

are:<br />

• the use of modern demonstrating instruments<br />

• the use of didactic games<br />

• choosing the location of the education<br />

• actualizing the curriculum<br />

• bringing the pupils into active position<br />

• the use of diversed group work<br />

• the standards of the course books<br />

Based on this research we have developed our concepts and suggestions about the correcting the imperfectnesses<br />

and about raising the standards of the education, and by this introducing the modern technology and it’s abilities, the<br />

endless variety of games to make the school environment interactive and life-likely, to open the gates of the school to<br />

the world or the immediate surrounding, making our pupils possible to experience individually the phenomena of<br />

their environment, „here and now”.<br />
