A POSSIBLE CHANGE IN THE TEACHING OF THE
ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIETY

This dissertation tells us in details about the general idea of the schools in Bácska and Bánát having modern demonstrating
instruments, the working habits of the teachers in areas that we think are up to date, and based upon this
we recommend some possible essential changes to the education.
The subject of the composition is the modernizing the teaching of Environment and Society in the lower grades
of the primary school. It contains a survey-based research that we did in 12 schools including 61 teachers of Bácska
and Bánát. The questions concerned seven issues that we think should be the part of the modern education.These
are:
• the use of modern demonstrating instruments
• the use of didactic games
• choosing the location of the education
• actualizing the curriculum
• bringing the pupils into active position
• the use of diversed group work
• the standards of the course books
Based on this research we have developed our concepts and suggestions about the correcting the imperfectnesses
and about raising the standards of the education, and by this introducing the modern technology and it’s abilities, the
endless variety of games to make the school environment interactive and life-likely, to open the gates of the school to
the world or the immediate surrounding, making our pupils possible to experience individually the phenomena of
their environment, „here and now”.
