applications (e.g. optoelectronics). The topic of my work is how to make bio-nanocomposits. First of all we covered
nanotubes with TiO 2. I used TiCl 4 or TiBr 4 prekusors, and I examined the received layers with the help of an electron
microscope.
The EM pictures show that the inorganic TiO 2 layer is formed on the MWNT if the composite was prepared either
without or with solvent and TiCl 4 or TiBr 4 was used as precursor. If TiBr 4 was used as a precursor a more uniform,
homogeneous coating was achieved compared to TiCl 4.
The rate of hydrolysis has also effected on the quality of the surface coverage and the quantity of the bulk solid
particles. I found that slow rate was more advantageous for covering the nanotubes by TiO 2.
If photosynthetic reaction centers are bound to TiO 2/MWNT composite the bio-nanocomposite material, which
is formed, shows photosynthetic activity.
