Mozambique, 1975. El gobierno revolucionario quiere borrar todas las huellas del colonialismo, y cuanto antes,
mejor. Una de ellas es la prostitución. Todas las prostitutas de las ciudades son llevadas a un campamento en
un lugar aislado donde son vigiladas por mujeres soldados para su reeducación y conversión en nuevas mujeres.
Entre las quinientas prostitutas presentes en el centro se encuentra Margarida, una campesina de 14 años
que había ido a la ciudad a comprar su ajuar de novia y que fue arrestada por error al no llevar documentación.
Pero una revelación lo cambiará todo: Margarida es virgen. Las prostitutas la adoptan y no tardan en venerarla
como a una santa.
Mozambique, 1975. The revolutionary government wants
to eradicate all the traces of the colonialism and swiftly!
One of which is prostitution. So all the prostitutes are
taken from all the towns and taken to the most isolated
forest of the country where they will be reeducated and
transformed in new women, under the watch of the guerrilla
women warriors. Amongst the 500 whores placed in these
reeducation centers is Margarida,a 14-year-old peasant who
was in town to buy her bridal trousseau. For not having her
identification documents, Margarida is taken by mistake. In
the reeducation center a revelation occurs that will change
everything: Margarida is a virgin. Treated with kindness she
becomes the whores’ protégé and they start to worship her
as a saint.
Le Mozambique, 1975. Le gouvernement révolutionnaire
tient à éliminer toutes traces du colonialisme au plus vite,
y compris la prostitution. Toutes les prostituées des villes
sont arrêtées et enfermées dans un camp isolé. Elles y
sont ensuite rééduquées, changées en femmes nouvelles
et surveillées par des femmes soldats. Margarida est l’une
des cinq cents prostituées du camp. Jeune campagnarde
de 14 ans, elle était en ville pour acheter son trousseau et,
se trouvant sans papiers d’identité, elle s’est faite arrêtée.
Une révélation inattendue va changer son sort: Margarida
est vierge. Les prostituées non seulement l’adoptent et la
protègent, mais elles finissent même par la vénérer comme
une sainte.
