L’esistenza di unpartito dietro Aulus Atilius Serranus è dimostrata dal fatto che proseguì il proprio cursushonorum divenendo console nel 170: LIV., XLiii, 9, 1 e 2, in Fontes Ligurum etLiguriae Antiquae citate, p. 174, n. 424. tale retroscena politico fu implicitamenteammesso da a. J. tOynbee cit, ii, p. 633, ove accennò a “a. atilius Serranus and hisfriends”, rilevando che il medesimo “had staffed, with candidates of his own choosing,the board of then commissioners”, ma, se Marcus Popillius, nonostante l’opposizionedel Senato, fosse riuscito a ottenere con la guerra altra terra da distribuire viritim, “thenthe roman People would be partly beholden to him, instead of being entirely beholdento a. atilius Serranus and his friends, for the provision of the new openings in thecisalpine region for ruined Peninsular italian peasants”. infatti, come ritenne il medesimoa.
