Voivodeship to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (October 1944–<br />
March 1947)<br />
The article presents the transfer of Ukrainian population (about 200,000 people)<br />
from the Lublin Voivodeship to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (October<br />
1944 – March 1947). The transfer took place on the basis of the agreement signed<br />
on September 9, 1944 between the Polish Committee of National Liberation (PKWN<br />
in its Polish acronym) and the authorities of the Ukrainian SSR. There were attempts<br />
to put a stop to the resettlements on the part of the Organization of Ukrainian<br />
Nationalists, as well as the troops of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). The deportations<br />
of the Ukrainian population, the re-settlement of the Polish population<br />
as well as the Polish-Ukrainian warfare changed the ethnic, linguistic and cultural<br />
makeup of the Lubllin Voivodeship.
