akkor mit gondol?… Arccal állították a gödör
elé, aztán…, prrr! Egy sorozat és végük volt.
Egy terhes asszony az nagyon sokáig
szenvedett, annak legalább öt sorozatot adtak,
mire végeztek. Aztán, hogy végeztek velük,
eltûntek. Én azokat többet nem láttam. Úgy
mentek el, mintha kilôtték volna ôket. Mentek
tovább, de hogy hová lettek, azt nem tudom.
(…) Hogy hová valósiak voltak, azt sem
tudjuk. Tábori csendôrök voltak. Nem is
kérdeztük ôket.
– És mit beszéltek a faluban, miért kellett
kivégezni a cigányokat?
– Senki nem tudott semmit, csak egyszerûen
kinyírták ôket. Hogy mi volt a bûnük nem
tudom. Pedig rendes emberek voltak.
– És ki adta ki a cigányokat a csendôröknek?
– Hát errôl a kisbíró nem szólt. Csak azt
mondta, este sötétedés elôtt menjünk oda a
községház elé, ott megkapjuk a további
intézkedéseket, és addig egy árva szót nem
szabad szólni senkinek. Ez titok. Hát, aztán nem
is szóltunk senkinek se semmit. (…) Hát az már
régen meghalt már. Szabó András nevezetû volt,
de az már régen meghalt.
– Szoktak-e errôl beszélgetni a faluban?
– Nem, errôl néma csönd volt végig.
–Miért?
– Hát… miért? … Nem beszél róla senki se.
Hát megdöbbentünk. Megdöbbent mindenki

Roma have to be executed?
– Nobody knew, they simply executed them.
I don’t know what crime they were guilty of.
But they were decent people.
– And who handed them over to the gendarmes?
– The village drummer did not mention this.
He only said, that before dark we should go the
gates of the parish hall where we would get our
orders, but we should not say a word to anybody.
This was a secret. So we did not say a word to
anybody. (…) But he died a long time ago. His
name was András Szabó, but he died a long, long
time ago.
– Do you talk about this in the village?
– No, since then everybody has kept silent
about this.
–Why?
– Well, … why? … Nobody talks about it. We
were shocked. Everybody was astonished to see
them doing that.
– Why do people keep silent?
