ötvenezer fôre tette az áldozatok számát. A hetvenes
években a Nácizmus Üldözötteinek
Bizottsága huszonnyolcezer fôs adatot szolgáltatott
külföldi kutatóknak. Karsai László tör ténész
1992-ben megjelent munkájában öt ezer
körülire teszi levéltári források alapján a ma -
gyarországi cigányok áldozatok számát. Ô is
meg állapítja, hogy az iratanyag rendkívül hiá -
nyos, így feldolgozatlanok a korabeli csendôr ség,
a munkaszolgálat, a németek által átvett ro mák
németországi sorsára vonatkozó iratok is.

There are many estimates of the Roma victims.
Kamill Erdôs, in the fifties, estimated fifty-thousand
victims. In the seventies the Com mit tee of
the Persecutees of Nazism gave foreign
researchers an estimate of twenty-eight thousand.
László Karsai in his work, published in
1992, estimated five thousand Roma victims
from Hungary, based on archive records. But he
stated that the records are imperfect, and the
records about the fate of the Roma in Ger many
have not been processed yet.
