Krakovszkiné a várpalotai Mátyás-vár mellett is
látott cigány holttesteket. A Naplóban közölt periratokban
is szó van az itt történt kivégzésekrôl, de
arra nincs utalás, hogy áldozatok között is voltak
cigányok. Egy tanúvallomás részlete: „Pál Ferenc
akkori csendôr törzsôrmestert a Mátyás-vár elôtt láttam,
amikor öt vagy hat polgári ruhás embert
kivégeztek. Pál törzsôrmester volt az, aki amikor
egy szerencsétlen ember több lövés dacára nem halt
meg, visszalépett és egy lövéssel szétroncsolta a
fejét…”
– Hét cigány volt, három fiú Székes fehér -
várról, a többi Várpalotáról. (…) A csendôrök
azt mondták, szaladjanak körbe a vár körül, és
mondják, hogy „Így jár a hazaáruló”.
– Miért, mit tettek?
– Semmit, semmit a világon. Nem is voltak
katonaszökevények, hisz ott volt köztük a
Kolompár Lajos, egy rokkant ember, a fél karja
hiányzott.

Lakatos Angéla minden évben egyszer, tavasszal
felül a vonatra és Várpalotára utazik. Virágot visz
magával, elmegy a tóhoz, és bedobja a csokrot a
vízbe.
Cross men were shooting them, they were

Mrs. Krakovszki also saw Roma corpses at the
Mátyás castle, in Várpalota. In the documents of the
case published in Napló, these executions are also
mentioned, but there is no reference made to Roma
victims. Part of a testimony: ‘I saw Ferenc Pál, the
gendarme sergeant-major by then in front of the
Mátyás castle, when five or six civil persons were
executed. It was sergeant-major
Pál who – when a poor man despite several shots
did not die – stepped back and destroyed his head
with one bullet...’
– There were seven Roma, three of them
from Székesfehérvár, and the rest from
Várpalota. (...) The gendarme told them to run
around the castle and shout; ‘This is the fate of
the traitors of the country’.
– Why, what had they done?
– Nothing, absolutely nothing. They were
not even deserters, you see, there was Lajos
Kolompár among them, a handicapped man, he
had only one hand.

Angéla Lakatos once a year at springtime takes a
train and travels to Várpalota. She carries flower with
her, goes to the pond and throws the bunch in the
water.
